Third level degree, IPASS/CIPP Accreditation or similar is essential for role as is proven experience in a bureau or large volume payroll environment.
Payroll Operations Manager
Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, the ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years ROI/UK experience managing a Team within a bureau or large volume payroll environment.
Payroll Operations Manager Duties & Responsibilities
Payroll Team/People Development
- Lead, manage and motivate the Payroll Team (Irish and UK) of up to 20 Payroll Specialists at different levels in their payroll careers through continuous feedback, performance appraisals, training, resource planning, recruitment and induction, ensuring rollout of team’s desired objectives and goals
- Liaise with Senior Management to ensure resources are in place to facilitate ongoing (cross-functional) training, absenteeism, professional development
- Plan, organize and schedule tasks and process flows on a cyclical basis i.e. weekly, fortnightly, bi-monthly, quarterly etc.
- Support, supervise and direct the Payroll Team in communicating with their client base
- Support the Payroll Team in providing ad-hoc solutions to client queries
Technical/Compliance Expertise
- Be the “go to” person for assistance with Irish and UK payroll related queries and provide support with technical/legislative/systems queries
- Lead process improvement projects and identify areas where further improvements can be made to eliminate non-value-added activities
- Ensure compliance, data protection and control risk within the function
- Ensure compliance with all internal controls, KPIs, budgets and other financial and quality control matters
- Liaise with IT and Software Support to garner continuous improvement of procedures and processes
Client Relationships
- Manage the process of onboarding new clients to include engaging with clients, ensuring expectations are managed and adequate resources are allocated
- Monthly contact with client base where required and ensuring work carried out by the team is absolutely accurate, compliant and on-time
- Be enthusiastic and passionate about providing clients with the highest level of service
- Maintain and further develop the relationship with the existing customer base throughout Ireland and the UK
Qualities, Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years’ ROI and UK payroll experience managing a team within a bureau or large volume payroll environment
- Experience of the major payroll software packages to include Sage Micropay, MegaPay, STAR (IRIS)
- IPASS/CIPP qualified
- Team player who develops and maintains productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Experience transitioning payrolls, streamlining processes and month end reporting
- Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically, both verbally and in writing with personnel at all levels of the rganization
- Strong collaboration, delegation and management skills
- Proficient user of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
- Excellent time management, administration skills and attention to detail
- Excellent rganizational skills with the ability to work effectively under pressure
- Genuine passion for payroll and people
- Solid commercial and financial acumen with strong analytical experience
- Strong and proven problem-solving abilities
Compensation and Benefits Package
- Negotiable depending on experience
