FYI Alert for Ulster Bank Clients and Employees

Ulster Bank announced yesterday that customers having difficulty accessing money in their accounts may have to wait until today until the problem is resolved. The bank says it has experienced a technical issue which has resulted in a delay in processing certain payments.  Social Welfare payments, salary transfers and direct debits are disrupted and the bank is contacting all affected organisations and says concerned customers should check with their branch or the website for updates

More than 100,000 customers have been affected by a delay in processing some payments.

Ulster Bank said that it is investigating the root cause of the problem, which has caused a backlog of payments. It says some payments may be delayed for up to 24 hours.

‘We are working to resolve the problem as a matter of urgency,’ the bank said in a statement.

‘We are working hard to minimise the impact and will ensure that those who are affected do not suffer any financial loss’, it added.

Ulster Bank says 50 branches in the Republic and 28 branches in Northern Ireland will remain open until 7pm this evening for customers who are unable to get to their branch during working hours.
